Tia Talks

Back in mid-2015 we got our second dog named Molly; a black Shih Tzu dog originally named Jessie Jet! Her parents were jet black pedigrees named “Minnie The Minx” and “Stargazer Stan” and Molly was born on the April 12th 2015. She was an early birthday present for me… even though she barely wanted anything to do with me! 😞

My mum decided to get her completely out of the blue as nobody expected us to to be getting another pet! It was just an ordinary school day where I wanted to go out with my friends so left a note, we were near our local cricket field when I got a call from my mum saying she had just been to pickup a new dog! At first I was sure she was joking because it was so sudden, but when I got home to my surprise there was an adorable Shih Tzu dog sitting on the living room mat. She was terrified of me at first but over timed seemed to ease up slightly (for some reason she loved my brother Connor though!)



Apparently mum was waiting for me to finish school but because my teacher kept our whole class back longer that day they left without me thinking they had missed me already so sadly I didn’t get to go with them to pick the dog or see Molly’s family. Once I got home on the night we got the dog too after being out with my friends I had to go to brigade club too which I used to go to every Thursday to do a bunch of activities; but I was so excited to go home and play with the new little dog the whole time I was there!

When I got home later in the night, disaster had struck at the worst possible time; an upstairs pipe had been leaking above the kitchen ceiling and a huge buldge had appeared in the roof, my friend who first saw water on the kitchen floor thought that the new dog might have pee’d but water was dripping from the roof! My brother Sean and mum turned off the water and headed out to B&Q to buy something to fix the leaking pipe whilst me and Connor looked after Molly. When they returned they had also bought Molly a basket and fixed the pipe (although the kitchen ceiling still needs re-plastering as I write this!)

I’ve always loved drawing and spend a lot of time doodling in my free time when bored. Sometimes I decide to work on bigger drawings which usually end up taking hours of work to get perfect! I usually like to imitate cartoon drawings or other cute pictures I find online, drawing my own version to compare with the original. Recently I’ve made drawings of The Simpsons family, Mabel and Dipper from Gravity Falls and my favourite drawing of all, Pikachu!

I decided to draw The Simpsons because I thought it would be pretty challenging to do cartoon drawings of but the end result turned out really well and later I coloured them with new pens which I got for christmas with brush tips making it very nice to do strokes with. I drew Mabel and Dipper a very long time ago and at the time I had just finished watching the final episode so decided to draw them as they were on my mind at the time, then recently my mum found the drawing on top of our fridge and loved it so I decided to finish colouring it in.

My Pikachu drawing was probably the longest I’ve ever spent on a single picture as it started as a simple little doodle which I decided to re-draw on a bigger sheet of paper then later decided I wanted to enlarge it and paint it onto a canvas. For enlarging the drawing I used something called “The Grid Method” which is where you take a smaller picture draw a measured grid over it then when re-drawing it you redraw the grid at a bigger scale (e.g 6cm blocks up to 12cm) and draw each grid segment one at a time; in the end I think the canvas painting turned out brilliantly!

I don’t usually like to paint all my drawings because it means I have to get out all the equipment and then spend time cleaning up everything when done.. but with drawing I can just sit with pencils and paper and start drawing!

I love pancake day and have been looking forward to it for weeks; as were my brothers! I really wanted pancakes this morning but my mum was at work so it wasn’t worth the hassle so I had to wait until I came home from school. Once I got home in the afternoon I was excited to have some pancakes made from the specially bought pancake mix mum had bought for the day and had lemon juice and sauces ready for them too. Our family isn’t religious but we still mildly celebrate pancake day just for the pancakes 😜 We all love pancakes but never really ever have them other than today.



Me and mum made the first pancakes together without my brothers but they didn’t turn out right not tasting good so we decided to make our own pancake mix like we usually do instead of using the shop bought one. The first pancake I made was cooking amazingly until I tried to flip it and it ended up landing straight on the floor.. (whoops) The next pancake came out successfully and I decided to add some whipped cream on it which mum recently bought fresh, so grabbed some from the fridge and added it. Apparently I had grabbed the wrong bottle though and I ended up spraying a mushy mouldy mess onto the plate! The cream I grabbed was months out of date!

Now that I had already ruined 2 pancakes I was determined to make the next one work! This time when I tried to flip it the pancake slipped out of the pan and fell onto the stove and burnt.. At this point I was fed up of trying but I had one last go but forgot to add any oil into the pan this time and the pancake got completely stuck and burnt again.. (At this point I gave up)



Later in the night my brother Sean came home from work and decided to have pancakes as a desert after dinner as mum wanted to use up the rest of the premade pancake mix, but nobody else really liked them either; they ended up being crispy on the outside but raw and mushy on the inside. A few pancakes didn’t turn out too badly and were eaten but next year we’ll be only making our own pancakes mix for sure!

Sadly the pancake treats didn’t turn out how we expected this year but hopefully next year we can try again, we’ll just need a better pan and just make our own mix! Did you have pancakes today? Share your stories in the comments below!

Today was the first day back to school for me after a week holiday which seemed to fly by so quick! During the holidays me and my brother Sean worked together to setup this blog and I’ve been sticking with my goal of making daily posts which I’m really proud of, I also celebrated my other brothers birthday and finished a big Geography report for school with drawings and print outs which I think turned out really good. During last week I also visited the hairdressers to get my hair re-styled and went on a trip into the local town centre with a friend to do some shopping!



I’m glad to be back at school though, today my tutor gave out new timetables and because it was Monday we finished an hour earlier than usual so the day went by so fast! When I got home I heard that my brother Sean’s car had a puncture and had to get it fixed but luckily he got home safe! Otherwise nothing much happened today but I’m pretty tired so I’ve just spent the night watching Youtube!
